Hunter Valley (lower and upper)


Hunter became one of the first important Australian wine regions because of its proximity to Syndey. It would be an unlikely climate for fine wine production because of the heat and humidity of the region, without the mitigating factor of the area’s constant cloud cover, which extends the growing season allowing for full phenolic (flavor) development. As a result, it produces some of the most remarkable Chardonnays in the county. Also significant production of Shiraz and Semillon.
