Godello is a white variety of wine grape found in northwestern Spain, in particular Galicia. The Gouveio found in northern Portugal is thought to be the same grape variety.
Godello is capable of giving fine white wines, and currently yield the best results in Valdeorras, where plantations have increased after having previously been in decline. Total Spanish plantations of Godello stood at 880 hectares (2,200 acres) in 2004.
