Martignetti Companies, the leading distributor of alcoholic beverages in New England, is excited to announce that the fifth annual Martignetti Companies Women's Beverage Alcohol Symposium will be held on April 4, 2018 at Bentley University's Center for Women and Business in Waltham, MA.

The Women's Symposium brings together women working in the beverage alcohol industry, including those working in restaurants and retail stores, as well as employees of distributors, wineries and distillers, free of charge. It is a day dedicated to enhancing professional skills, learning to achieve work-life balance and networking with peers.

This year's theme is "Charting Your Course".  For the second year, Martignetti Companies has partnered with The Center for Women and Business at Bentley University. We are very pleased that this year we will again have the CWB's support and engagement.   CWB will take the lead in two breakout sessions, Negotiating/Advocating for Yourself led by Professor, Dr. Donna Blancero and Mentoring, Sponsorship and Networking led by Executive Director Deb Pine and Senior Program Director, Trish Foster.

We are happy to welcome guest speaker Deirdre Mahlan, President of Diageo North America.  Deirdre is responsible for the company's largest market in terms of sales and operating profit. In this role, she oversees Diageo's U.S. and Canadian spirits and beer businesses, which include brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Crown Royal, Ketel One, Captain Morgan, Baileys and Guinness.  Deirdre has more than 20 years of experience in the consumer goods sector in a number of senior roles, primarily in the US with Diageo and Seagram.

This year's keynote speaker, Jeffery Tobias Halter, author of bestselling book "Why Women" and leading male expert on advancing women, will provide valuable insight on creating inclusive workplace cultures that positively impact both the bottom line and employee engagement.  Jeffery's clients and best practice research includes companies such as McDonald's, Deloitte, GE, Mercedes-Benz, American Express, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Altria and dozens of other companies. Combining 30+ years in corporate America - from the sales front line to the corporate headquarters and his passion for integrated leadership strategies, Jeffery connects with leaders at all-levels of the organization to create sustainable change and impact the bottom line.

A new volunteer effort for attendees has been added to the list of activities to celebrate the 5th.  On April 3, 2018 from 1pm to 3:30pm we will partner with the Greater Boston Food Bank to help feed our neighbors in need across Eastern Massachusetts.  The Greater Boston Food Bank, located on South Bay Avenue in Boston, plays a critical role in helping end hunger in our community.  As this is our first year including a philanthropic arm to the WBAS event, space is limited to 30 volunteers.  We are hoping to build on the success of this year's volunteer event to impact our community in the future.

The only symposium of its kind in New England, Martignetti Companies and its suppliers provide this access to inspiring speakers, relevant skills training and resources free of charge to women in the beverage alcohol industry.

Special thanks to the founding Board Members; Freddy Cicerchia, Laurel Conrad, Jessica Cyr, Carol Francolini, Tricia Murphy, Nicole Olivier & Alex Stack, as well as our supportive Subcommittee Members; Maureen Candito Jillian Capone, Jessica Cioci, Jen Costa, Janell Dubsky, Nicole Sobel, Caitlin Steiger who take time out of their busy schedules to make this day a success!
