LUX Wines, an importer and purveyor of fine wines within an independent division of the E. & J. Gallo Winery (Gallo), announced today that it has been awarded the exclusive rights to distribute Italy's famed Jermann wines in the United States, beginning immediately.
Jermann is the latest addition to LUX Wines, a growing portfolio of elite brands from the most noteworthy appellations in the world. Well-known for being a pioneer in the art of blending and an early adopter of modern white winemaking techniques, Silvio Jermann has a reputation for successfully blending both international and local grape varieties and producing some of Italy's most iconic white wines.
"We are excited to represent such an iconic Italian brand in our LUX Wines portfolio in the U.S.," said Joseph C. Gallo, Vice President in Gallo's Premium Wine Division. He added, "Celebrated for their luxury Italian white wines, Jermann is recognized around the world for creating vibrant, pure and multi-layered wines that express the unique character and originality of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region."
In 1881, Anton Jermann left the Austrian winemaking region of Burgenland and established his family winery in the tiny Friulian village of Villanova di Farra. Less than a century later in 1975, Anton's great-grandson Silvio Jermann forever changed the world of Italian white wines with the creation of Vintage Tunina, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia and Picolit.
"As a family-owned winery, we are honored to be part of the LUX Wines portfolio and work with the Gallo Family," said Silvio Jermann.
Today, Jermann farms approximately 400 acres which surround their two wineries in Villanova and Ruttars. The wines are recognized by notable wine critics around the world and have garnered multiple 90-plus point scores.
The Jermann portfolio that LUX Wines will be distributing includes the acclaimed Vintage Tunina, in addition to Vinnae, Dreams, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and Red Angel.
