The E. & J. Gallo Winery announced today that it has donated $100,000 to the Philippine Typhoon Relief Fund to assist rescue and relief teams in response to Typhoon Haiyan which killed an estimated 100,000 and affected more than 4.3 million people across 36 provinces.

"On behalf of our employees and their families, we are making this donation to help the rescue effort and to provide aid and comfort to the victims of this terrible disaster," said Joseph Gallo, chief executive officer and president of the E. & J. Gallo Winery. "This disaster strikes close to home as we have valued relationships with distributors, retailers and consumers who live in the Philippines and have suffered losses."

The donation will be used to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims living in the Philippines.

Typhoon Haiyan swept across the central Philippines on Friday, November 8, leaving a trail of massive destruction in its wake. With sustained winds reported at over 145 miles per hour, and significantly stronger gusts, Haiyan was the second category 5 typhoon to strike the Philippines this year.
