Our goal is to provide $1,000 grants to as many qualifying grantees as possible. We are asking for those who are able, to consider making a donation to support the thousands of individuals and families that need financial help during this time.

RESTAURANT AID – THE PROJECT
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic has caused unprecedented closures in many sectors, but the restaurant industry has been hit particularly hard. Since these individuals rely heavily on cash tips and not hourly wage, they (a) are immediately without cash flow and (b) may not qualify for unemployment in certain states/regions. This means an entire chunk of the American population thrown immediately into crisis. These individuals need to eat, they need to feed their families, they need to purchase quarantine supplies, they need to pay for medicine, gas, etc. They need funds now!

UNITED WAY
In Massachusetts, 2 in 5 workers lack sufficient savings to withstand a sudden loss in wages. With public events, schools and workplaces shuttering as the pandemic unfolds, hourly, low-wage workers will experience unprecedented financial hardship. The problem is acute for hospitality workers, retail workers, and other hourly workers, many living paycheck to paycheck, with no clear options for recouping lost wages. Additionally across the Commonwealth, several hundred thousand children rely on federally funded school-based programs for one, two or more meals each day. As schools close across the Commonwealth, the demand for food assistance will increase for these children and their families.

DINING BOND
Due to the impact that the coronavirus COVID-19 has had on the restaurant community, a collective of restaurant industry professionals have set a global initiative in motion to get funds into the hands of restaurants NOW, even if they are temporarily closed. A Dining Bond works like a savings bond, where you can purchase a “bond” at a value rate to be redeemed for face value at a future date. For restaurants, many of whom are small businesses and are in serious risk of shutting their doors permanently due to this crisis, the bonds can bring in much needed revenue. And for us, the public, they’re a chance to show love and support, ensuring the future of some of their favorite restaurants, not to mention the many people who may be forced out of work.

BAR METHODS
These are difficult and worrisome times for all of us, especially those in the hospitality industry. Many of us are worried about our livelihood, health, and what’s to come. With restaurants being restricted to limited service and jobs being terminated we are working on ways to help supplement income and provide meals for out of work hospitality and those in need.

THE WINE AUCTION
https://www.86lostwages.org/
Wine Country for Restaurants is organizing an all-charity, online wine auction housed on the https://www.winebid.com/ platform. All of the proceeds from the auction are going directly to Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund. The first auction went live on Sunday, April 5th at 7:15 pm PST and will close at 7:00pm PST. Each subsequent auction week will follow the same schedule: Open on Sunday at 7:15pm PST and close the following Sunday at 7:00pm PST, lasting for as many weeks as we have lots to sell. The lots themselves are unique, often one-of-a-kind collections of wines that have been curated and donated by wineries of all shapes and sizes with the simple goal of giving any wine enthusiast something to fit their taste and budget. You’ll even find bottles donated from private collectors and restaurants themselves. All of them offered in the spirit of community for our hard-hit, restaurant friends.
