Corporate Wine Educator
Position Overview:
The Corporate Wine Educator is responsible for the education and sales mentoring of all wine divisions of Martignetti Companies. The objectives are to increase salesforce product knowledge and effectiveness in sales as well as strengthening relationships with our customers and suppliers in the trade.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Conduct classes at a variety of levels for salespeople, staff and trade partners
  • Train and coach employees to attain wine credentials, such as Certified Specialist of Wine, French Wine Scholar, Italian Wine Scholar, etc.
  • Active involvement in professional trade associations
  • Achieve fiscal year sales and gross profit goals, wines 
Trade Development, on and off premise: 
  • Assist in sales presentations                     
  • Conduct staff training for on premise sales representatives
  • Work in conjunction with Director of Mixology to provide comprehensive staff training in both spirits and wines, where appropriate
  • Write wine lists
  • Present at wine dinners
  • Play a consultative role in enhancing retail store product selection of Martignetti wine brands
  • Conduct retail training seminars for store employees
  • Provide product knowledge to both sales staff and trade partners
  • Active field training of sales representatives in above skills
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to teach classes in an approachable, enthusiastic manner
  • Strong selling and presentation skills with excellent people/diplomacy skills
  • Establish and maintain solid customer relationships
  • Technology skills to include Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn/navigate new systems and databases
  • Competency in internal systems, including Diver, iWeb, Program Advisor, Knowledge Vision
  • Public relations and social media experience and competencies
  • Attention to detail and timely reporting
 
Education/Experience/Training:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of five years of industry experience, preferably involving sales and wine education
  • Advanced wine education accreditation: Certified Wine Educator, Master of Wine or Master Sommelier preferred
