Accounts Payable Manager
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Accounting, this position is responsible for all activities of the accounts payable function as it relates to merchandise, freight, customs, vendors, and other general expense.  Manages a team of AP Specialists ensuring that all Company processes and policies are being adhered to. Responsible for the accuracy of the billing on product received and timely payments of vendor invoices.
 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Ensures that the department is well managed and all processes and functions are being     performed as intended
  • Works with the Purchasing Department, Portfolio Managers, Division VP’s, Sales Analysts, Warehouse Personnel and others to resolve quantity and pricing discrepancies   
  • Responsible for vendor relationships as it pertains to the AP function
  • Processes vendor payments after coordinating with the AR collectors on overdue vendor bill backs 
  • Assists the AP team in the matching and vouching of merchandise invoices, as required
  • Periodic review of certain control reports (open PO’s, Freight & Customs accruals)
  • Manages month end closing process
  • Makes cost adjustments for incorrect PO receipts, floor stock bill backs and other AP maintenance changes
  • Selects and trains new employees; provides general supervision to AP team; conducts annual performance evaluations
  • Works with other members of the company on problem resolution
  • Assists in the year-end audit
  • Evaluates processes and procedures to find efficiencies
  • Other projects as determined by VP Accounting 
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must exercise good judgment, initiative and sound problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Prior supervisory experience required
 
Education/Experience/Training:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word; able to learn databases and systems
  • Experience working with inventory as it relates to A/P
